Safety & Access Education Program

Safety & Access Education Program

Preventing injury. Expanding access. Centering families.

Program Overview

The Safety & Access Education Program is a community-focused education and outreach initiative designed to prevent unintentional injuries among children and strengthen safety awareness among families, caregivers, and community partners.

ALT Legacy delivers culturally responsive education, outreach, and implementation support that helps communities improve child safety, particularly in areas related to transportation, home safety, and access to preventive resources.

This program is designed to be deployed in partnership with municipalities, agencies, schools, nonprofits, and public service organizations across Connecticut.

Why This Program Matters

Unintentional injuries remain one of the leading causes of harm for children under 18. Many families, especially those navigating transportation barriers, limited resources, or complex systems, lack access to clear, practical, and culturally relevant safety education.

The Safety & Access Education Program addresses this gap by:

  • Meeting families where they are
  • Translating safety guidance into clear, actionable education
  • Strengthening community awareness and prevention practices
  • Supporting partners in delivering effective, compliant safety programming
